May 2024: Kahlani 👑

What’s your name?
Kahlani
.
What part(s) of the industry do you work in?
Entertainer
.
How did you get started in the industry?
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be the center of attention as well as being able to show off my physical abilities and how hot I can be/ am at the same time. So as soon as I turned 18 I rushed to fill out applications at any and every club in my city!
.
What's your zodiac sign(s), and does it/they resonate with you?
Sagittarius: I have my moments when I like to be the “life of the party”, but as soon as the lights go down and the energy dies out I like to spend time nurturing myself in the way I know works best.
.
Tell us about your favorite shift or customer ever!
I was having a terrible night, lots of negative energy and self doubt filling my head. After a few hours of non stop rejection, I found myself sitting alone on the back porch of the club crying out of frustration, and this gentleman came to me and asked what was wrong. He seems genuinely interested in making me feel better and after explaining to him my struggles of the night he offered to get the most expensive room with me! He said his goal was not only to help me get some money in my pocket, but to also give me a safe space to sit and vent to someone who actually cared and wanted to listen and be there for me. Hands down one of my favorite experiences in my entire career! Not to mention he enjoyed my company and my presence so much he ended up paying for a second room with me to end our time together
.
Do you have any pets? We love pets, please tell us about them!
I have two cats; Rocco and Vinny! I’ve always been more of a cat person tbh and these two distinguished gentlemen have never once let me go a day or a night without knowing I’m loved and cherished! I use to joke a lot saying they were the only “men” who didn’t lie or cheat and to this day it’s still true lol! I definitely wouldn’t be the same without my sweet boys in my life
.
How have you made yourself stand out when working?
My curly hair is probably my number one accessory that can’t be stolen or imitated! I spent so much of my life hating my curls to the point I damaged my hair from heat and straightening treatments and just completely killed it. Once I stepped into my ✨Devine melanin✨ era I shaved off all the dead hair and regrew my crown and it takes center stage with me every chance I get!
.
What is your funniest story related to work?
Picture this: I’m working a day shift and there’s all of 2 customers in the entire building. I walk up to one of the gentlemen and offer to play a game of Pool against him, the catch, if he wins he takes me for a dance but if I win he gives me all the money in his bank account (I’m not very good at the game so I was most definitely betting on him winning lol) we proceed to play. After a while he can see it’s going to be an easy win for him and starts to get a bit cocky, finally he’s down to the 8 ball and he’s pretty much got a perfectly lined up shot and right as he’s centering his pool stick I walk around the table and proceed to wiggle my sweet fat juicy a$$ right in front of the pocket he’s aiming for…needless to say he missed the shot lol. And somehow in that moment I was blessed and managed to make all of my remaining balls into a pocket one after another until it was my turn to sink the 8 ball. This man walks around the table, lifts his shirt up over his bottom and begins to awkwardly shake is but in front of the pocket I’m aiming for just as I did previously!!! I still managed to make the shot to both of our surprise but the whole endeavor had us both laughing so hard we almost cried!
.
What are some of your favorite things and hobbies outside of work?
I really enjoy painting/ drawing/ any kind of art medium. My mom would always tell me that I was drawing or coloring before I was even able to write my own name which makes a lot of sense seeing as I’ve created some beautiful artwork but my hand writing still resembles that of a kindergarteners!
.
What is a goal you’re proud you were able to reach while doing and because of SW?
I’m so so so proud to be able to say that because of SW I was able to not only afford to get myself out of a really rough spot I felt I was stuck in, but I was also able to find myself and find new ways to love and appreciate what this beautiful body of mine is capable of. I struggled with my self esteem for as long as I can remember and it wasn’t until I started in this industry that I was able to look in the mirror and genuinely love what I saw. No amount of rejection, comparison, or outside negativity could ever take that away from me!
.
What is something you feel needs to change in the industry?
Honestly, the “high school cliques” I see so much of in this industry really makes me sad! I’ve been in situations where girls will go out of their way to be so mean and rude to fellow entertainers for seemingly no reason. Don’t get me wrong, if someone wronged you or brings bad energy to the table, by all means, keep your distance. But at the end of the day we are all here for the same reason and most of us have etiquette and know the do’s and don’t of the club so the fact that some people go out of their way to be so negative in a space that’s already toxic towards us is absolutely asinine to me.
.
There is a lot of talk nowadays about sex work being “empowering.” Is this true for you and why or why not?
ABSOLUTELY!!! Being able to work and make money simply because of your aura/ stage presence/ personality is the MOST empowering! It reminds you that in this messed up world you don’t have to hide parts of yourself to make others comfortable and you can be the star of your show every day without question!
.
What is your best tip for making money at work?
Enter every shift, every sale, every interaction with the idea that no matter what you are the prize! If you get rejected, don't just say “okay” and walk off. Turn that no into an opportunity to wager. “Since you’re not interested in a dance/ room how can I help you in a way you’ll benefit?” “Great! Now that I’ve helped you it’s your turn to help me; I would love a $___ tip!” Never EVER walk away from an interaction empty handed if you can help it!
.
What's your favorite colors / styles / accessories to wear at work?
I have and always will be a neutral color girl! Black, white, gray, nude and the occasional red are always my go to colors! Every now and again I’ll find myself wanting to stand out a bit more and I’ll throw on a neon yellow or maybe even a plum purple color to contrast against my skin but you will almost always find me in black or white!
.
Do you have any industry "life hacks" to share?
Manifest your money!!! Before every shift rather than saying “I hope it’s a good night” or “I really need to make good money” tell yourself you WILL!!! Have and keep the mindset of “I will make $5k tonight” and “it will be a great night” don’t ask, tell the universe what’s going to happen and you’ll be surprised that you’re right!
.
How can customers make you feel spoiled, appreciated, and respected?
“Just because” tips, flowers delivered to my club for me, surprising me with my favorite dinner, flooding my stage sets, doing rooms with me and only wanting to talk or hear about my day/ week!
.
What has been your biggest challenge in the industry and how do you cope with that?
Being rejected! Seeing that most of the customers I interact with only want one specific race or body size and rather than telling me that they just simply say “I’m not looking to spend money” it’s really a struggle especially when I know the real reason they say so but don’t respect me enough to tell me the real reason. I cope by reminding myself that no matter what I look like physically I am not worth less or looked at differently because of the way I look. I tell myself constantly “everybody has their preferred type and that doesn’t take away from my beauty” and as little as it seems it works wonders. Verbal affirmations have definitely been my saving grace over the years!
.
We all have a story about a babe in the industry who we loved and were inspired by from the moment we met her- tell us about her/them:
Oh wow I have so many!! I guess the babe I saw who inspired me was a toss up between this wonderful human who went by the name Lucy and this amazing human who danced by the name Catalina. They both had this alluring and captivating essence to them that no matter what they did on stage it always looked intentional and incredible! They were so strong and so delicate at the same time, light on their feet but they shapes they made hit hard and they it always looked so choreographed with the music inspired me to really train my body and tap into that musical magic that they so effortlessly brought to the stage every time.
.
What do you wish people knew about us, and about you personally as a SWer?
That we are people just like everyone else; we have feelings, and bad days, and break downs, and little victories no one sees. We get looked at like these beings that aren’t of this world and thought that may be true to a certain extent we, just like many other people, want to enjoy the little pieces of normalcy we can get even on the clock! I know the façade of sparkly outfits, long hair, and perfect eyeliner make it difficult to compare us SW’s to the everyday person but we feel and react just the same.
.
How have you dealt with the stigma of being out as a SW, if you’ve faced any?
I face it with confidence and reassurance that although it’s looked down upon by many I can say that I love my job and look forward to it every day without question. There are a few people in my life that don’t know what I do for work not because I’m ashamed to tell them but because I know it would cause a frenzy of questions and judgment that I simply don’t feel like being bothered with and it don’t hurt a little to know that the judgment will come…but at the end of the day no one can take away the power I have in my industry.
.
What are your plans for the future (can be related to the industry or not!)?
I want to open my pole studio and be able to teach those who need/ want to learn how to succeed not only in aerial arts but also in the SW industry and a whole. There is no more gatekeeping, I want all of us to have a plate at this table and enjoy the fruits of our labor and the labor of those who walked so we could run!
.
What advice would you give younger you, if you could, both work related and in general?
Don’t give up yet! Put in the work and in time it’ll work for you❤️

Where can we find you?
