January 2024: Esmeralda 👑

What’s your name?
Esmeralda <3
.
What part(s) of the industry do you work in?
Strip club
.
How did you get started in the industry?
On my 18th birthday I was broke, in a toxic relationship so I needed a way to make money in order to leave the situation I was stuck in. I blew out my candles, opened my laptop and started camming.
.
Tell us about your favorite shift or customer ever!
Oh Scottie! I still dream about him. He found me from the clubs instagram page, he randomly came in on a saturday night 2 hours before close and he ended up buying the rest of my night. We cuddled, talked and he RUBBED my feet for 2 hours. He was my most consistent and respectful regular I had in the many years i’ve been dancing at the club. He would buy my socks, old shoes and just let me relax for hours. He went MIA for a while and I saw he texted me after no contact for a few months, told me I helped him feel confident enough to start trying to date again after his wifes’ passing. He met a girl, they fell in love. He went out of his way to text me to thank me. That’s just one of the reason I really do love doing what I do. But damn do I miss him
Do you have any pets? We love pets, please tell us about them!
I love my fur babies! 2 maine coon cats! Goose and Spleens <3 Goose is a very vocal Aries and Spleens is a spoiled lil Leo baby.
.
How have you made yourself stand out when working?
I try to be relatable and be more true to who I am outside of the club. If I notice a customer is nervous, I’ll act nervous as if we’re on a first date. I’ve noticed if you’re adapting to how they’re feeling and their vibe, they’ll feel more comfortable to spend $$ on you. Also SMILING!! I grin so hard all night my makeup cracks on the smile lines all night. One of my most consistent compliments is how beautiful my smile is, so it really does work!
.
What is your funniest story related to work?
I worked at this hole in the wall strip club and for some reason they allowed a big dog into the club. Straight up looked like Lassie. I thought it was kind of cute until I was giving it’s owner a dance and it started BARKING at me. Poor girl had no business being in there LOL.
.
What are some of your favorite things and hobbies outside of work?
I do a lot of pole performance pieces, which keeps my bones moving outside the club. I may or may not have a problem with spending an insane amount of money on food whether that be trying new restaurants or cooking new cuisines at home with my loved ones.
.
What is a goal you’re proud you were able to reach while doing and because of SW?
Get out of the trenches which is DEBT and DEPRESSION. Being a sex worker with borderline personality disorder, it was really difficult to care for myself. I would take breaks from sex work in general every so often and in those times I wouldn’t brush my teeth, shower, check my bank account and my house would be tragic. I’m so thankful for SW for reminding me that i’m hot and that I should get the hell up out of bed, take my meds and get this bread.
What is something you feel needs to change in the industry?
This may sound redundant but hiring predatory cis men as bouncers, managers and djs. I’ve seen too many baby strippers get taken advantage of. They know what we put up with from customers and instead of providing a safe space for us most of the time they just add to the stress. One more guy to uncomfortably side hug, one more guy that you just smile at while saying no to their advances. This isn’t at all the clubs I’ve worked but 9 times out of 10 theres at least one.
.
What is your best tip for making money at work?
I used to train new strippers at my previous club and one thing I consistently drilled into them is talk to customers as if you want your drinks paid for all night. Flirt them as if you are genuinely attracted to them and you wanna ‘pick them up’ from the bar.
.
Do you have any industry "life hacks" to share?
Google sheets!!! Keep track of how much money you made each day and what outfit you wore as well as how you did your hair to revisit. ‘hmm what did I wear when I made 3k? Oh that white sparkly bikini!!’
.
How can customers make you feel spoiled, appreciated, and respected?
The tip well without me having to ask or say anything! when customers genuinely listen to me and ask me about myself rather than me just sitting there nodding. For me, it feels better when the customer is actually engaging with me. Oh and the random silent guy who just makes in rain on stage and walks away… just know you are loved sir.
.
What has been your biggest challenge in the industry and how do you cope with that?
Learning to say no even in times where I know the money is good. Struggling to justify saying no to an uncomfortable customer when my rent is due. I know at the end of the day, the universe will bless me with a better situation for standing up for myself and protecting my energy.
We all have a story about a babe in the industry who we loved and were inspired by from the moment we met her- tell us about her/them:
Gretchen!! what an incredible woman. She is your mother, your sister, your girlfriend all wrapped up into such an incredible resilient woman. She's the type of coworker who taught me to never take no for an answer, to get the fuck up and hustle. I would watch her in awe as she would just hop from table to table without taking a breath. She reminded me that these men should never feel comfortable sitting in our playground not spending a dime. She showed me some friendships do truly survive past the club. She is hands down the most confident person I've ever met and I carry everything she's taught me wherever I go. Everyone needs a gretchen in their life.
.
What are your plans for the future (can be related to the industry or not!)?
I want to run an all gender night/strip club. I live in the south in Appalachia and the amount of trans/queer sex workers I've met and have performed with that would really love and benefit from dancing in a club setting is extraordinary. I would love to give back to my queer community by having a space for them to make money and showcase their talent in a club. Maybe it'll catch on around other small towns.
.
What advice would you give younger you, if you could, both work related and in general?
That you are always gonna be the HBIC. You have and always will be THAT bitch <3
